B&B Pepito

Getting into the place was stressful from the start: nobody seemed to know we were arriving, and we couldn’t reach the host. After calling a bunch of numbers, we finally got hold of someone and found the keys, but nobody checked us in. The room was dirty-looking, dated, uncomfortable, and had no shower gel or anything like it. We also had to climb several flights of stairs. It’s an apartment split into multiple B&B rooms, and some rooms apparently have an outside toilet. Ours did have one in the room, at least, though it was far from decent. At checkout, the cleaner asked for tourist tax even though we’d already paid it through booking.com. My boyfriend paid without questioning it. This was one of my worst stays, and I absolutely wouldn’t recommend it.

The listing didn’t match what I found when I arrived at B&B Pepito. I raised it with the host, who acknowledged that the information was inaccurate. When a description doesn’t reflect reality, the place loses credibility and there’s no basis for continuing the booking. I cancelled because of the mismatch, but didn’t receive a refund, which was a negative part of the experience. I also saw that other guests had complained about the same kind of misrepresentation. Clear, honest information matters, so I wouldn’t recommend this place. #NotRecommended #BadExperience

What made us leave was the way the person showing us the room behaved. He asked us to climb four flights of stairs to meet him, then became surly and antagonistic when we asked questions. He wanted us to cancel through the booking reservation and pay him cash directly. When he started yelling, we decided to go. He grabbed my arm to stop me and stood in front of the door. I didn’t feel safe there. The room itself wasn’t pleasant and didn’t look anything like the listing. It had empty cartons and motorcycle helmets, more like a storage room. He also pointed out problems such as having to pound on the wall for 15-20 seconds to flush the toilet. After we found another place, I read more reviews and saw several other one- and two-star accounts describing similar behavior. Beware.

There’s no elevator, and the rooms are on the second or third floor. We booked through Booking, then told the owner we weren’t happy with the room. He tried to get us to pay cash for one night, even though that isn’t Booking’s policy. He spoke very loudly and grabbed my husband’s arm to keep him from leaving. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.
