Tenute Al Bano

We came for a quiet, relaxing break, and this place suited us perfectly. The pool was wonderful and very peaceful in the mornings, and the surroundings are absolutely beautiful. Most staff were friendly, though they spoke very little English, but we managed. Thank you for providing an air-conditioning unit and a bottle of wine for my husband's birthday. That meant a lot. We'd love to come back for another restful stay.

We cut our stay short. There's a nice bar and outdoor area, and plenty of parking at the front, but the hotel is out in the middle of nowhere, so you have to drive everywhere. The buildings look nice outside, though the interior felt dated. The bed was comfortable, but the pebbled bathroom walls and floor were slippery, and the shower had an old-fashioned plastic pull curtain. The on-site restaurant was good. Breakfast was mostly processed food, with whole apples among the few exceptions, and there were no fresh or warm healthy choices beyond tea and coffee. One morning we arrived at 9:30, but a male staff member in a suit said they were clearing away, even though breakfast was listed until 10. We visited in mid-May 2024, and the pool was closed until June 1. Wine by the glass at the bar was pricey, since two glasses cost only a few euros less than a bottle. There's also a children's nursery on site, which we assumed served local families. Worth a one-night stay, but there are better places in nearby towns and villages.

The peace and beauty here made the trip worthwhile, however far I had to travel. The place was lovely and clean, and the people working there were pleasant. I booked a room with a couples massage and they helped arrange a babysitter for my kids, which was really helpful. We enjoyed the restaurant, and the wine for sale was great too. I'd wanted to visit for a while and I'm so glad I finally did. Great job!

The staff were friendly, but that was about the only bright spot. The rooms felt dark rather than cozy, and everything was overpriced. The spa was poor, with just two saunas and one jacuzzi for €30 per person. There was nothing to see or do nearby, either. We booked two nights and left after one. This was our worst stay in Puglia, and it didn't come close to earning its 4-star rating.
