B&B Il Vicoletto del Casale

The setting is what stood out first: B&B Vicoletto del Casale is in the old village of Foria, surrounded by 17th-century buildings, with the Alburni Mountains and Cilento valleys all around. Centola is a short drive away, Palinuro's beaches take about 20 minutes, and Marina di Camerota about 30. Scario, Pisciotta, Policastro, Sapri and Maratea are options for going farther afield, and Padula's Certosa is worth seeing too. Teresa made us feel at home from the start. She's thoughtful and welcoming, and her homemade breakfasts included fragrant tarts, logs, and other desserts. At the end she sent us off with some delicious Cilento white figs, a lovely gesture. Our room was spotless, cool, air-conditioned, and had the comforts we needed, while still feeling homely and old-fashioned. The rare linen sheets and antique tablecloths added to that feel. Around the village there were friendly cats, a sweet cocker spaniel, and geese wandering through the farmyard. Guest parking is available in the village, with more parking just 100 meters away. It's a handy base between the sea and the mountains for exploring the area. We went home with lots of memories and feelings from our stay.

The room was simple and clean, and the setting was peaceful. Cilento's lovely beaches are about a half-hour drive away, with plenty to explore inland as well. Teresa was so kind, and her homemade breakfast cakes were a treat. I first booked the B&B with a gift box, liked it enough to stay on for a few extra days.

We found a quiet break away from the noise, about half an hour from Palinuro. Our hostess was very welcoming and even waited up for us late. Breakfast, with homemade cakes, was just right. I'd happily go back soon!
