Hotel Villa Santa Maria

We came all the way from Canada, and this place made our Italy trip so relaxing. The rooms were large, nice, and very clean, and the service was great. The owner and his wife were incredibly kind and went out of their way to make our stay special. We really wish we could have stayed longer.

Our travel plans changed after a fire stopped all traffic for nearly four hours, so we couldn't reach Alberobello as planned and needed somewhere to sleep and rest. We popped into this hotel and were delighted. The rooms were spacious and clean, the staff were fantastic, and the location had an amazing view of a mountain. I recommend it.

In January, we spoke with Mrs. Marilena about hosting our wedding guests before and after our wedding on May 23, 2026. She was extremely kind and helpful, and her professionalism persuaded us to recommend the property to all our guests. Finding rooms was already difficult, since the hotel was nearly fully booked in April for a motorcycle rally. As the wedding got closer, things changed dramatically. We tried several times to contact the property, but Marilena was unavailable, and we were directed to Mr. Enzo. He was rude, uncooperative, and often impolite to us and to guests, who also reported bad experiences. We'd arranged a small reception for our guests before the wedding, but were told it was too late for any help. We said we'd make our own arrangements and only asked for a table. Mr. Enzo responded in a confused, unprofessional way, saying he'd consulted the chef without telling us, and stayed gruff throughout. When we visited in person, the exterior looked neglected and abandoned. The pool had become a pond with frogs and tadpoles. We'd planned to take family photos there on the wedding day, but had to take them in our rooms instead and missed an important moment. Inside, despite the heat, the air conditioning wasn't switched on in the rooms. We were told service wouldn't start until June. Several guests understandably left early, though they still had to pay for their full stay. We were also told, in their words, that because of us the property couldn't host a larger group, which made us feel like second-class guests. Our guests were treated with little attention or courtesy too. A terrible experience with service and facilities below standard. We hope this review can help improve the management, communication, and care of the property.

The room I got was spacious, comfortable, and very clean. The shower was large, with a great hydromassage column, which was the icing on the cake 😁. The hotel itself is beautiful, well maintained, and very clean. It's family-run, and I had the pleasure of meeting the owners, who were kind and helpful and personally handle reception and the restaurant. The chef, who is also the owner, puts a lot of heart into the food. Hotels don't always get it right, but I really enjoyed the delicious dishes. I'd highly recommend the place and hope to come back personally, on the fourth floor.
