Hotel La Fonte

The location was ideal for the hospital, which is why I stayed here with my mother. Staff were professional and very nice, the evening service was good, and the place was clean, with pleasant sitting areas outside and in the lobby. The room was a decent size and had a nice balcony, but the bed and bedding made it hard to rest. The pillows were lumpy and worn-feeling, the mattress was too hard for me, and the sheets and closet blankets felt unpleasant. The worst issue was the outdoor AC condenser. It came on every 20 minutes or so all night. Even with earbuds and the windows closed, it bothered me badly and I slept very poorly. The food was disappointing too. The tortellini in brodo were nice, but the scallopine in wine sauce had no wine taste that I could detect and was covered in odd cheese. The portion was tiny. My mother's fish was literally one small fillet. We had booked the fixed-price option in advance, and for 25 euros we got about 10 small tortellini, a small portion of chips, and what looked like perhaps 50g of meat. I was still hungry and needed three bread rolls. In my view, that meal wasn't worth more than 15 euros at best, and it wasn't a case of quality making up for the amount. I didn't have breakfast, but was told it was decent and included in the price. I'd stay here only if I needed the hospital. If you can get into the village, find somewhere else to eat.

The hotel has a 70s look, and the shower and breakfast are basic but fine. Wi-Fi kept cutting in and out. At 80 euros a night, it would probably be okay, but we paid 155 euros after booking a “suite.” Like another reviewer, we expected more space and instead got a sofa bed opened up to sleep two more people. There are plenty of better hotels nearby, especially if you're not visiting Hospital San Rocco.

The staff were great, and someone even stayed up waiting for us to arrive. We had a lovely room and bathroom, though the air conditioning wasn't very good. I'd come back in the future.

For anyone visiting San Rocco clinic, the location is perfect.
