The location and medieval town make a fabulous vacation spot, and we had a great experience at the restaurant. The food was very good, and Adele, the manager, was professional and accommodating. Alfred, the owner, was welcoming, and it was nice seeing him there each day playing piano for the guests. We’d highly recommend it.

We went for a sunset dinner in the gorgeous courtyard, looking across Certaldo and the hills. The setting was lovely, and the sunset was incredible. The food was very nice too, especially the duck pasta, ox cheek, and desserts.

The food was good and the staff were very friendly. My steak arrived cold. They fixed it, but by then the timing was out of sync. The red wine also came a little late, after the food had been served.

Certaldo alto is a beautiful medieval borgo that hasn’t yet been overrun by mass tourism. From the restaurant terrace, the view is stunning. The uphill bike ride to get there was challenging, but the location was splendid and the staff very friendly. By chance, the owner and I have a friend in common in the jazz music scene, so we had a nice chat at our table.
