Gatto Bianco Maarea

The people here are lovely and make you feel right at home. A great place to stay.

The breakfast was enjoyable, and the location is a real plus, close to both the beach and the center. We stayed at Hotel Maarea with friends for a weekend, but the rooms let us down. They felt cramped and neglected, and the tiny bathroom was hard to move around in. There was also an unpleasant smell coming from the toilet fixtures.

The rooms themselves are nice and the property has potential, but I wouldn't come back. The lobby was filthy, and the sofas had dust and dead bugs on them. Cleanliness matters even when the price is low. Breakfast is served at another nearby hotel, so getting there means walking through a dark tunnel. In the rain, the unlit elevator left us soaked. The breakfast looked plentiful at first, but it was just savory crackers and a few jam-filled croissants. When we asked for more, we were told it had to arrive. The reception staff were no help unless we asked questions, and they seemed unable to do their jobs. The skinny guy with glasses was especially rude. This felt more like a set of rooms than a hotel. Avoid it if you expect even basic decency.

The price tells you what to expect, and it isn't much. I stayed for one night. Breakfast was passable, though the room was dim and didn't look very clean. The bathrooms are new, but the bedrooms could do with renovation. The bathroom also had a really strong sewer smell.
