Hotel San Pietro

The beach is close, but our stay was so upsetting that we moved to a nearby hotel the next day and won't return. Before we arrived, the owner was friendly and quick to reply, helping us choose a room and giving detailed information. That changed sharply once we got there. Within 24 hours, after ordinary situations involving small children, the owner, Laura, became irritated and shouted at us. These included asking to take pasta to our room for a child who had fallen asleep, accidentally breaking a small sugar container and immediately apologizing and offering to pay, reporting a loose vase in the children's play area, and stepping out of the restaurant briefly to put a tired, crying child to bed. She seemed unable to tolerate children and treated these reasonable requests as excessive. Even after we asked her to lower her voice, she continued, ordered us to leave, insulted both me and my mother, and lectured us about raising our children. We felt deeply humiliated and upset. Other guests later said they were shocked by her aggressive, inappropriate behavior. We'd never had a similar experience on any of our trips, local or international. The owner later apologized for her tone and manners and said we could stay. We appreciated the apology, but the experience had already been too unpleasant. The other problems were rude staff, breakfast and lunch later than average, with breakfast at 8:00 a.m. and lunch from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Dining staff seemed to hurry people, and the buffet was always taken away promptly at 1:30 p.m. There was little flexibility for a reasonable request like using a plastic plate to take pasta to a child. Our room was very dated and in poor condition, with a broken shutter, and there were unstable, unsafe objects in the children's area.
