Olympic Mountains

The lifts on both sides of the mountains are right in the parking lot, and there’s a ski equipment hire place in the same building. It’s incredibly convenient. We even returned for lunch one day while moving between ski areas. Lorenzo and his family run a brilliant little hotel. From the moment we arrived and walked into the bar, they made us feel welcome. The rooms are simple, cosy, and comfortable. Each morning there’s a good breakfast with cereal, yoghurt, ham, cheese, fresh croissants, and excellent coffee. Espresso doppio was my usual order. After skiing, the bar is a friendly place for a cold beer, with travellers and locals relaxing together. There’s a simple menu of burgers and toasted sandwiches, or you can walk about ten minutes into the village for other restaurants and wine bars. Highly recommended.

The gondola and chairlift are in the car park, and the mountain and river views are lovely as you leave the hotel. We spent a week here for a snowboarding trip and couldn’t find a bad word to say about our stay. The staff were so friendly and went out of their way to help. It doesn’t feel like an ordinary hotel. We felt at home as soon as we walked in, and got a smile every morning at breakfast. The buffet had fresh meats and cheese, croissants, cereal, and great coffee to start the day. We were lazy and ate at the hotel three of our seven nights. The burgers are second to none, and I’d especially recommend the Porchetta. The sandwiches served during the day were amazing too.
