The skyscraper is hard to miss as you walk around Cesenatico. It's an iconic local landmark, right across from the main square overlooking the sea. The building is tall but simple, and seeing it rise above the beach is part of the town's tradition. When you're admiring the view and breathing in the Adriatic air, it's worth stopping to look at it.
The postcard called it “The tallest building in the world.” That may no longer be true after all these years, but Cesenatico can still be proud of once holding the record. Engineer Eugenio Berardi's design was advertised that way. It had 35 floors, stood 120 meters tall and contained 120 apartments, with four elevators and four dumbwaiters, plus gas, telephone, intercom and television.
At 118 meters and 35 floors, the Cesenatico skyscraper was Italy's tallest for a couple of years and is still one of the tallest reinforced concrete buildings. You can see it from far away, and it's become a symbol of Cesenatico. It looks out directly over the sea, near the Ferris wheel and the grand hotel. Inside are lovely apartments for sale and rent, and people also use the building as a place to set off from and meet up.
