King Hotel

It’s a shame, because the checkout issue left a bad impression after what was otherwise a positive stay. I’d booked the shuttle for both the outward and return trips, and their website listed 10 euros each way. At checkout I was told it was 15 euros each way, so 30 euros instead of 20. They apologized that the website price was outdated, but wouldn’t return the 5 euros I’d overpaid for the outward trip. For the return, they said they were doing me a favor by charging 10 instead of 15. It’s not about the 5 euros, fortunately a small amount. It’s the lack of transparency: no one mentioned the discrepancy at check-in, and they didn’t refund me after acknowledging it was their mistake. Here’s the review you asked for :)

I’ve used Booking.com for years and have never had a problem like this. The property canceled my reservation less than 24 hours before arrival, claiming my credit card was “invalid.” I entered the details again several times and tried a second card. Both cards worked fine and had been used on Booking.com just days earlier. When I called, the property’s telephone support offered no real help or effort to fix it. They simply suggested I book the exact same room again at a price more than 50% higher. Other customers describe similar last-minute cancellations, cards called “invalid” for no apparent reason, and rooms appearing online again at much higher prices, so this doesn’t look like an isolated case. It’s unacceptable to leave people who planned ahead without a place to stay just hours before setting off. I strongly advise against this property. Terrible experience and shameful management. Booking.com should seriously consider removing it from the platform.

I booked through booking.com in March and called in April to confirm. Everything was fine. Today my card was declined, even though I travel the world with it. This matches what I’ve read in other reviews. Terrible.

The hotel is in a great spot, just a 5-minute walk from the beach, and our room was cleaned well every day. The cleaning staff and other employees were friendly and kind. Even so, I don’t think I’ll return. The bathroom was too small for two people at once, and the shower door was broken. The information in the booking didn’t match what we got: it promised a buffet and drinks included, but there was no buffet, and we only got half a liter of wine and a liter of water. Anything else was charged at checkout. My wife has celiac disease and had told the hotel about it. During the first few meals, several dishes contained gluten, which she can’t eat. She was the one who noticed, not the waiters. Service wasn’t great either. Reception was unattended in the afternoons and evenings, some waiters and the maître d’ were a bit rude, and we had a frightening elevator incident. We got stuck inside and had to free ourselves. When we reported that it was out of order, they didn’t believe us until they checked.
