Hotel Schmuckhof

Its central location works well, with access by car from the upper street or on foot from the town center. We found the rooms fair, cozy and well balanced, and good value for money in winter. The staff were helpful and supportive. Breakfast was a buffet with a nice range: cheeses, ham, fried eggs, yogurt, milk, juices, coffee, croissants, strudels and cereals. We also had dinner at the restaurant, which was good and well priced. There were three couples of different ages and habits in our group, and we were all happy with the choice.

The food and accommodation are good, but the Wi-Fi is very slow and there's no AC. Parking is limited, so arriving late can mean you don't find a space. They also hold events here, with music playing very loudly until midnight. That disturbed us as hotel guests and felt disrespectful.

The location is the main reason I'd recommend it. Our triple room had plenty of space and looked recently renovated, though the bathroom was tiny but worked fine. Breakfast was enjoyable and included local food, but there wasn't much variety. The reception setup can be confusing, although the staff are gentle and welcoming.

The restaurant service was quick and efficient, while the hotel service was the opposite. The restaurant itself is very good, and the food and rooms have the kind of taste you might find at four-star hotels in England, Germany or Switzerland. Still, compared with the high standards and value for money you can generally get from accommodation in Italy, I found this place disappointing. The location is mediocre and the private parking is small and uncomfortable. 60/100
