Tenuta di Spannocchia

The buildings are about 800 years old and have been cared for in a way that feels both authentic and loving. Our room was private, quiet, bright, clean, and comfortable. The staff welcomed us warmly, and there was plenty of fresh, delicious food. I’d visited Spannochia for a day the year before and toured the farm, where I saw their strong commitment to regenerative practices for better food nutrition and environmental benefits. On this visit, I stayed for a week, went on lots of hikes, and enjoyed sunsets from the patio. There are many lovely places within an hour’s drive. I’ll treasure the visit and hope to return to Spannochia.

We loved our time at Spannocchia and can’t recommend it enough. The food was the best we had on our Tuscany trip, which says a lot, and you can really taste the care that goes into the cooking. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like family. Thanks, Nico, for showing us around. It was a magical experience.

The food was all from the farm or local sources, and the accommodations were comfortable. We especially recommend the Taste of the Farm tour: you get to see the farm, then sample the Cinta Senese pigs afterward. We spent three nights at this agriturismo and enjoyed every minute. The staff were friendly and engaging, and the dedication to biodiversity and biodynamics really comes through in everything they do at Spannocchia.

We had a lovely week at Spannocchia with our family of eight, staying in the dedicated buildings, Monteccio and Montechino. We had plenty of privacy, and could step out to go birding in the Alto Merse nature reserve, where we saw a Hoopoe along with familiar species. A short drive took us to the pool for a swim or to dine outdoors at the castle. We also went wine tasting in Chianti and Montalcino and explored Siena during Palio week. The staff were always friendly and helpful with nearby suggestions. Meals were fresh and delicious, and could be adjusted for our family's allergies and preferences.
