Pit Stop Ciampino Station

After a full day of sightseeing, the large terrace was a lovely place to rest. The accommodation was well equipped, with everything we needed, and there’s a shop, pharmacy and bistro in the area. It’s just steps behind Ciampino train station, which you can reach from the airport on the AirLink bus for a few euros. This was just the right Pit Stop for our Rome and Vatican visit. We’ll come straight back on our next trip instead of looking elsewhere.

Maybe the high rating comes from the affordable price and convenient location, but I honestly don’t understand it. For any other reason, I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Check-in was simple: there’s no reception, you do it online and get an entrance code. The kitchen had a very basic breakfast. The villa, with private rooms, was clean and comfortable, and my room had a spacious bathroom and everything I needed for my stay. It’s just two minutes from Ciampino railway station, and I had a nice experience.

The bus stop for the airport and the train station are both close, and there are several restaurants nearby. We recommend Rosmarino Ristorante Pizzeria. Check the bus stop for the exact schedule: early morning services aren’t very regular, buses can be late, and you’ll need cash for a ticket. Our hostess was welcoming, helpful, and accommodating. The rooms were comfortable and very clean, with everything you need. There’s a steep flight of stairs and no lift, so it may be hard for anyone with limited mobility. You can also hear other guests coming and going. Breakfast was a quick, self-service continental spread of cereals, toast, pastries and coffee, just what you need before heading to the airport. We recommend staying here. For the service and the cost, we give it five stars, though obviously it’s not a five-star luxury hotel by hotel grading standards.
