Travelershome Ciampino Bed&Breakfast

Really disappointing. The room was small for three people, with just one bedside lamp and table between us. There were only two power outlets, one tucked behind a shelf, and the 15-inch TV felt tiny in a 12-square-metre room. The double bed was two uncomfortable single mattresses pushed together. Noisy neighbors kept their TVs loud until midnight. Breakfast was Eurospin snacks. On top of that, I was charged another €80 for tourist tax and cleaning for two days. Never again.

The room was a letdown from the moment we were given Room 1. I’d booked a Smartbox “enchanting escape” for June 25th to June 26th, meant to include a comfort double room and a traditional breakfast, but this was nothing like the booking photo. It had a single bed and two more beds pushed against the wall to make a double, with no headboard. There were two tiny bedside tables, a trolley coat rack, no wardrobe, and no chair. The TV on the wall frequently lost its picture because of a poor signal. Charging our phones was a hassle, with one outlet by a bedside table and another at the back already used for the TV. The room and the bathroom were poorly cleaned. The bathroom was out in the corridor, so we had to walk through the shared areas to use it, which was extremely embarrassing. This should have been made clear when booking. Its faucets were quite dilapidated, the water flow was very low, especially in the shower, and the temperature was very hard to adjust. The room was cold enough that we had to turn on the air conditioning, but it made loud, annoying noises and left us almost completely sleepless. The breakfast was non-existent. I also regret being charged a €20 final cleaning fee on the grounds that it wasn’t included for Smartbox guests. If that was the case, it should have been stated when booking. I absolutely wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone 😡😡😡😡😡

The place was clean and fairly quiet, but it’s advertised as being near the train station and really isn’t. It’s not a typical B&B either, more like an apartment with two locked rooms and a bathroom. There’s no in-person reception or decent breakfast, just a kitchen for self-catering.

We were really happy with our stay. There’s a regular 551 bus on Via dei Sette Metri, about a 10-minute walk from the accommodation, that goes to Anagnina metro station for an easy trip into central Rome. Near the bus stop there’s a great cafe serving wine, beer, coffee, and pastries even early in the morning. On our arrival day, Atac Roma was on strike, so we walked from Ciampino airport. It took 25 minutes and was a pleasant walk. With a large suitcase, a taxi might be easier.
