Poggio alla Pietra 26

We were completely free to come and go on our own schedule, thanks to the independent check-in and checkout. The kind owner even left groceries for us to make dinner, which was really useful when you’re traveling on your own. It made an exceptional first-night stop for our bike ride combining Eroica and Eroica di Montalcino, starting from Gaiole. The apartment was spacious and had all the amenities, including a washing machine, in a beautiful setting. It’s a couple of kilometers outside Eroica, but well worth the detour. Thanks so much!

The setting is charming, with a loggia and barbecue to use, and the rustic house has plenty of space. It was reasonably clean, though the furnishings feel dated and a few details could use improvement. Getting there wasn't especially easy, particularly after dark.

We slept well in the comfortable bedrooms, and the kitchen had all the modern conveniences. The shower was in good shape too, and there was an outdoor grill area. I liked the farmhouse despite it being more rustic in person than it looked in the photos. It's secluded, with a relaxing view over the landscape. There were a couple of awkward door issues: the bathroom doesn't lock, and the front door has an inside handle but no outside handle. We got locked out and had to call the fire department to get back in. Still, I had a great stay, and the neighbor's large dog was especially friendly and calm.

The nearby thermal spas made for a really relaxing break. We loved our stay at Poggio alla Pietra 26 so much that my family and I came back!!! It's also a fantastic base for outings in the Tuscan hills or for combining time inland with a trip to the sea. Highly recommended!!!
