Cinisi Vacanze 2.0

The B&B is in Cinisi, a densely built suburb of Palermo, and you can walk to some restaurants. It’s also about a 15-minute drive from Palermo airport, with parking on the nearby streets. The renovation is nice, and the place was clean. Our spacious room had an extra twin bed, and the bathroom was large and accessible for disabled guests. Breakfast on the second floor had a good selection of Italian and continental items.

The village is pretty quiet, though Terrasini, Carini and Palermo are close by. We found the room clean and the atmosphere very homely. It wasn’t too far from the beach either, and we had a really comfortable stay.

I booked a room that explicitly included what was described as “a very good breakfast.” Check-in went smoothly with a door code late in the evening, but there was no breakfast when I got up. The landlady told me none was provided, then said it wasn’t worth preparing one for just a few guests outside the main season and that I was the first to complain. When I insisted that my booking included it, she insulted me as a bad, horrible German and said I should know Sicily has different rules. She became very rude and unpleasant. She also refused to cover the cost of breakfast at a nearby bar, offering to return just 1 Euro, which she said was the value of the breakfast she provides. Potential guests should know about this extremely rude and questionable behaviour, and about what that “very good breakfast” is apparently worth.

Cinisi is a small, quiet town away from the tourist route, and it seemed safe enough for a night. If you’re heading to or from Palermo airport, this is a convenient place to stay. I was pleasantly surprised by the comfortable room, tasteful decor and pleasant staff. Cafes and restaurants are a couple of blocks away, and we ate at a nice Tex Mex spot called Chameleon.
