Agriturismo San Giovanni

We first found Podere San Giovanni by chance last year, and Claudia and her family made us love it so much that we're coming back this year. It's the place to go if you want peace and quiet. There's traditional Roman food at the restaurant, a lovely pool among the greenery, and horseback rides in the Città di Castello countryside. Everything went smoothly, and the staff were always available to help with requests. Thanks for a fantastic stay, see you soon!

The food is excellent, Roman-style and made with quality ingredients, and the natural setting is everywhere around you. Just be ready for the occasional pesky critter, since that's part of being out in nature. We had a relaxed stay during the last 15 days of August, after the children's summer camp period, with a pool that felt almost private and plenty of safe space for Nik to play. Mrs. Claudia at reception was so kind and made us feel at home straight away. Little Nik also had patient Flaminia and Celeste, who introduced him to "little Jack" the pony. The three house dogs, "Zampetta," "Gas Gas," and "Pablo," deserve a mention too for putting up with Nik. Highly recommended. Two photos at the end give a good sense of how relaxing it is.

This farm sits just 3 km from the center of Città di Castello and has a lot on offer: summer camps, an equestrian center, a pool, holiday apartments, and the Roman restaurant "Locanda di Bissa," with indoor dining and an outdoor veranda with a bar. It's a good setting for adults and kids, whether for a party, birthday, summer break, lunch, or dinner. Staff are courteous and helpful, and things are transparent. In September 2021, a farm-to-table nursery for children aged 8 to 36 months was due to open in the building next to the restaurant and in the fully renovated former farmer's house.

The price was a pleasant surprise, especially for portions that are definitely not nouvelle cuisine sized. The dishes looked lovely, with understated table settings and elegant, minimal plating. Fresh local ingredients and low-temperature sous vide cooking bring out the original flavors. Throughout the meal, the wait staff were friendly and attentive from one course to the next. If you want to finish a great meal feeling as light as after a snack, this is the spot. #BeDaRipetere
