Locanda degli Illustri

We were very happy with the apartment that’s part of the Locanda degli Illustri. It was clean, well kept, and equipped, and check-in was well organized. Mrs. Roberta was courteous. The town is very welcoming, and its people are its real asset. We hope to see you again very soon.

The breakfast was good, though there wasn’t much variety, and the housekeeping was good too. Still, it wasn’t a welcoming or comfortable place. The building is old and poorly maintained, the bathrooms are very cramped and have no bidets, and the elevator doesn’t always work. The pillows were uncomfortable, and outside noise made it hard to sleep. The pizzeria was a serious letdown for hygiene. We found glasses stained with lipstick, and the placemats were completely unhygienic. The pizza wasn’t great either, especially the sausage one, which was poorly cooked and had acidic toppings. Terrible. Highly not recommended.

Molise is a wonderful region, and the people I know there are truly courteous. The service at this place was good and polite, and breakfast was good and plentiful. The room TVs could be improved, and the remote control batteries should be changed. Of our two nights, the first was ruined by a broken bed base that kept us from sleeping. Thankfully, it was replaced for the second night. I’d avoid a first-floor room because of the bar below. Management should ask bar customers to keep the noise down after a certain time in the evening.

If you’re hoping for a quiet night, this isn’t the place. Customers stay in the bar/restaurant below the rooms and make noise until 3:00 a.m. The owner says it isn’t his responsibility. Across the street, the town clock chimes every quarter hour, so sleep is difficult. Some rooms also don’t have bidets. The owner is rude and shows no respect for guests.
