The owners were wonderful and really went out of their way to help. I was struck by the outstanding service, as well as how spotless and high-tech this charming hotel felt. My room was spacious, the bathroom quite fancy, and the rates very affordable. It’s much better than some of the leading hotel chains in the US.

The owner was very polite and helpful, and even made late arrival easy. We handled payment by phone and online. The room was well equipped and clean, though there were a few cracks in the walls after the last earthquake, which I imagine they’ll repair in time. It came with toiletries, towels and a hairdryer. The whirlpool tub and shower facing the bed were lovely for a romantic evening with your partner. Pity there’s no breakfast service, though there’s a pastry shop on the main road I’d recommend.

For someone who travels a lot, Orchidea Rooms & Suites is a beautiful, practical option. The location is quiet, tucked along a side road, but still close to the center and beach. The new property is well cared for, with several bright, clean rooms furnished with an eye for detail. One of the owners, Gianluca, was warm and helpful, and managed to find me a room in a challenging season. This is a guesthouse, so breakfast isn’t part of the price. As a welcome, the owner exceptionally gave me a voucher for a nearby pastry shop with excellent breakfast.
