The fast, reliable Wi-Fi and well-stocked common areas were good, and the rooms seemed fairly nice and fairly new. Still, I found the stay disappointing in several ways, and was glad it was only for one night. I had expected more after reading the positive reviews from people who found it suitable for a night before a cruise. Despite lots of communication beforehand, check-in was difficult. My WhatsApp messages and calls weren't getting through when I arrived, even though I'd shared my plans and timing well in advance. I expected the host to be there, but we waited around in confusion for 20 minutes until I finally reached him by regular phone and he arrived. Electronic locks could have avoided the whole hassle. The host was friendly and showed us what we needed to know. I thought he would return in the morning for checkout and to collect the tourist tax, but he didn't. I had no cash, so I had to buy something at a shop to get change, then leave the tax with our keys for the "self check out". The hot water at the sink and shower was unreliable. The location was fairly close to the port, which was good, but it was extremely noisy well past midnight and 1 am. Maybe there was a club next door, or someone was partying in a nearby apartment. Either way, it was noisier than where we stayed in Rome, which is a bit insane. A mixed bag, all in all.

The quiet neighborhood and comfortable bed made this a lovely place to stay, and the kitchen had everything we needed. We were there for one night before our cruise. Finding the house was tricky because Google Maps had us walking around for a while, though that wasn't the owner's fault. We'd happily stay again and recommend it.

Our room had two beds and could sleep four, with a shared living area used by guests in the other bedroom. The host was great, and the location worked really well, about halfway between the cruise port and the train station.
