Il Molinaccio al Rio Chiaro

We haven't visited the venue, but had a frightening encounter nearby. While hiking along via Fraschini, we stepped about 2 meters off the road along a well-trodden trail to look at a waterfall. There was no fence or sign to indicate private property, and it looked like an ordinary public forest path. Three large dogs came up behind us after we'd passed the junction by about 50 meters. They barked and acted threateningly, scaring our baby. I have owned dogs for decades and know territorial behavior. I firmly told them to stop, and they kept coming, though they weren't running. When we yelled for help, someone I presume was the owner came out and tried calling them back from the yard, but it didn't work. We didn't try to hit the dogs. We were then told we'd caused the problem by entering private property. If we were trespassing, we're sorry; we honestly thought it was public land. But that's no reason to let dogs loose near a family with a stroller and a dachshund. The owner's reply made serious accusations that aren't accurate and should be backed up with proof. It feels like they're twisting what happened. Owners are required by law to keep their dogs on their property.

The hosts welcomed us like family and were so kind. It's a beautiful farm stay beside a waterfall, tucked into a fairy-tale valley and a lovely escape from the modern world.

Not good.

We found Molinaccio through Smartbox and had a wonderful time. It's a 19th-century place in a magical natural setting, and everything was clean and well cared for. Elisa was warm, friendly, knowledgeable, and quick to help with anything we asked. The animals, from kittens to giant dogs, were all sweet and affectionate. Breakfast was one of the most authentic I've had, especially the pear juice, and we felt at home straight away. I only wish we'd had more time; we'll definitely return. It's a place that can leave you feeling peaceful and energized, especially if you love nature. If you love nature or are a bit snobbish, though, I'd advise against it. Staying at Molinaccio makes you want to leave everything behind and go back to a simple life close to nature. Thank you, Elisa.
