The front office left us with a really bad experience, especially after the shocking sentence in an email: “I'll leave aside the fact that children's hidden expenses are equal to or even higher than those of adults.” They charge 150€ for a cot for a one-year-old. That’s just crazy. Why not be fair and honest with customers and simply choose to be an “Adults only” hotel?

When we arrived with our two dogs, things seemed to be off to a bad start. The receptionist said they hadn’t known we had two and only accepted one. I showed the booking confirmation, but she handed over the room key without even looking at it. I later found out she was one of the family owners, whose family was approaching 100 years of continuous ownership and operation. Love the place.

The family ownership across generations seems to be a big part of the place’s special atmosphere. They’ve got the formula right, with real professionals providing attentive service and care for the details. The food is exceptional too. A jewel in a beautiful town.

The view is stupendous, and the hotel feels lovingly maintained. The spa is charming, with a steam room ceiling dotted with little lights that change like a constellation, plus a warm pool where hidden buttons set off different bubbles. There are all sorts of fun decorative touches, including hand-painted details in the rooms, hallways, and even on the elevator doors, little lighted niches, and quiet wood-paneled salons. I hadn’t expected such unusual decor. The staff were very friendly, and breakfast was the best we’ve ever had at a hotel: heaps of homemade cakes and cookies, eggs cooked to order, fontina, and other local cheeses. We had so much fun here.
