Hotel Roma

We were so tired we didn’t inspect the room carefully, but the night ended with a nasty surprise: the bottom sheet had a big stain, maybe grease, and there was dust on the wardrobe. The mirror was dirty and damaged, too. We found a large, open bottle of shower gel in the bathroom. Even before that, the outside looked unappealing, with dirt and clutter everywhere. When we pulled back the covers, the pillowcases appeared sewn shut on both sides, though we were too exhausted to dwell on it. Breakfast at the counter was just a cappuccino and a packaged croissant, at least that was sealed. I asked for fruit juice, but when I told the owner which flavor, she frowned. She could have just said she didn’t have it. We were only passing through, and they asked if we could extend our stay. Absolutely not after that.

With prices so high in peak season, I went with the cheapest place in the area. The owners are friendly, and the hotel has a family feel and a decent location not too far from the lake. The rooms have the basics, and for what you pay, it really isn't bad. Breakfast was about average too.

The dinner was a real highlight, made with fresh local dishes and cooked perfectly. The hotel also offers very good value for money: the rooms are simple but clean and have everything needed, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Its position above Piona Bay is very convenient. A very pleasant surprise, thanks again and congratulations.

I had a really enjoyable weekend here. The place was very comfortable, the service was genuinely good, and I liked the food a lot.
