The cigarette smell hit us as soon as we entered the room, and airing it out didn’t get rid of it. The floors were dirty, the bathroom and kitchen hadn’t been cleaned properly, and the kitchen cloths and sponges were old and smelly. We sent the owners photos right after check-in to let them know. Instead of dealing with the problems, they blamed us for the dirt and refused a refund. Then they came into the apartment without permission, shouted at us and told us to leave, although we’d paid for two nights. In 13 years of travel, I’ve never been treated worse. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Stay away if you can.

The room was spacious and clean, with a kitchen, and check-in was self-service. It’s right by Lake Como and close to the boat jetty, in a very pretty spot. The AC wasn’t working. They said it needed servicing.

The owner let us check in early when we arrived in Colico an hour before the usual check-in time, which was very kind. The apartment was big enough and had everything we needed. A large kitchen and refrigerator were a real plus, and the place is right in the middle of Colico, near the train station.

The best restaurant in town is right next door, which is definitely a bonus. The apartment itself was amazing, with a beautiful view over the lake.
