Galzignano Resort Terme & Golf - Hotel Majestic

The new thermal pools were the best part for us: warm, relaxing, and packed with strong spa jets. After a week cycling, floating there was just what we wanted. Our room in the Majestic was very spacious, with a bath, balcony, and lots of room for luggage, though the view of what looked like old thermal pools wasn't pretty. We were doing a 7-day bike ride and, on arrival, the three-hotel complex looked tired and in need of some TLC. Luckily, we were booked into the Majestic, which seemed upgraded. Dinner really spoiled things. We were told the main restaurant was full because of a conference and the café serving lighter meals was open. We asked for simple pasta, tomato sauce for my husband and cacio e pepe for me, but were told there was no pasta. In Italy! The café only had pizza or focaccia, and the other hotel restaurants were closed. After a long day riding, we didn't want to go into town, so we stayed, but it's hard to understand a hotel in Italy not having pasta. It took the shine off a stay that had started well. Other reviews suggest guests have mentioned this food problem before, but it still hasn't been addressed. Such a simple fix could make a big difference to the experience.

The pool is warm, the food is tasty, and the staff are nice. But it was hard to work here because the Wi-Fi kept dropping, and reconnecting took many attempts. If you need to work as well as relax, I wouldn't choose this hotel. For a stay focused on relaxing, be aware there are no pool towels provided. I had to bring them from our room. A woman at our reception said we could get them at another hotel's reception, but a man there said we had to take them from our room. We also had to put the large mattress on the sun lounger ourselves. And we had to check out from the other hotel because ours didn't have enough staff.

The mattress in our room was rock hard, and I found it really difficult to get a good night's sleep. Everything else made for a calm, relaxed stay: the staff were very nice, the location beautiful, the bar excellent, and there were billiards and card games available. The thermal baths and salt sauna were amazing, and breakfast had lots of choice with fresh coffee. I'd recommend it for a few nights to explore the region or relax in the natural thermal baths. Renting a car is a good idea for exploring.

The Radisson Hotel itself is lovely, with welcoming, attentive staff. We had room 605, with a huge balcony and jacuzzi, and couldn't have asked for a better room. The resort around it is a bit run down, a kind of faded glory, and a bizarre place. I loved its quirky charm, though. One day they may renovate the whole resort, and it'll lose that character.
