Hotel Ristorante da Roverino

There aren’t many restaurants in Comunanza, so we came to Da Roverino a little wary since it seemed to be the only option. Happily, the food was very respectable, and the prices were fair when we got the bill. It’s a popular spot with locals, and the place filled up as the evening went on. Service was good, though I can see it slowing when they’re busy. The dining area sits just past the hotel bar and check-in, while the kitchen is an open fire pit for grilling, so meat is a big focus. There was no menu, which usually makes me nervous, and the choices came at us quickly in competent but quirky English. One starter was raw mushroom, rocket and parmesan. I wasn’t sure about it, but it turned out to be one of the best starters we had on the trip. The pasta seemed to be ravioli only, though perhaps I missed something in translation. With no menu, paying can feel uncertain, but the bill was very reasonable. It was nice to have our expectations surpassed. As the main local hangout, they have to keep their standards up.

The rooms are basic, but they have all you need. The owner is friendly and very professional, and also runs the restaurant at the property, where the food is excellent and suits every taste. The best option in Comunanza.

We make a point of eating here whenever we’re on holiday, year after year. The local food is excellent and always worth a visit.
