Palazzo Meraviglia - Albergo Diffuso

For the occasion, the price was competitive, and we had a good stay. The room had enough space for my family, with a double bed and a slightly smaller one for the kids. The bathroom was large and well kept. The reception manager was friendly and helpful. Breakfast at the partner bar, about two hundred meters away, was average. It’s a historic building, so there are a few things that could be improved.

From the village, there are uninterrupted views over the lovely countryside, where vineyards and olive groves predominate. Corinaldo (AN) has kept its medieval charm over the centuries through maintenance and restoration, as well as careful preservation down to the details. The palace itself is beautifully renovated, with modern comforts that don’t take away from its historic character. We got a warm welcome and found the prices fair. Restaurants nearby serve meals, and there’s a bar for buffet breakfast. A very positive experience.

The village is beautiful, and the building is an impressive historic place. That’s why I’m giving two stars. The rest was severely neglected and poorly maintained. Cleaning was inadequate: dead flies on the stairs, dirty windows, dead plants, and dry branches on the floor. We used the elevator once and then avoided it. It seemed to need substantial work to be safe. The doors closed slowly with unpleasant noises, and the ride bounced and jolted. I told the man at reception it seemed to have serious problems. He said it stopped every now and then. Our room wasn’t clean either. The bathroom was dirty, the toilet seat broken, and there was dust on the furniture, dirty windows, a dirty sofa, and peeling walls with damp stains. The mini fridge was on the floor, dirty inside, and didn’t cool properly. The service was terrible. We asked for two bottles of water for the night, but they had none, chilled or in the room. They don’t keep any. I’d suggest finding another line of work.

A storybook village, an enchanting setting, and total quiet. The hotel staff and locals were both kind and helpful. The food was excellent.
