Hotel Centrale

A comfortable room and great value for money. The hotel is right in the center, which makes it handy for a stopover. The bathrooms and showers are shared.

I couldn’t stay because the hygiene was so poor, and no other room was available, so I had to cancel. The staff were courteous and friendly, apologized, and we said goodbye. The room itself was bare and furnished rather haphazardly. There were cobwebs throughout, and the corridor between rooms smelled strongly of smoke. In the bathroom, three large patches of mold covered the ceiling, hair left by previous guests was blocking the shower drain, and the ventilation fan was inadequate. Since there are no windows in the bathroom, proper ventilation is essential.

Inside, the hotel was nice: the beds were clean, the shower and toilet were good, breakfast was included, and there’s free public parking just outside. The owner spoke English. Finding the place and getting in, though, was a struggle. We arrived very early, at 6:30 a.m., and had emailed the owner to tell him. He replied in Italian that the keys would be in a safe by the door, but didn’t send the code. There’s no “Hotel Centrale” sign, and the hotel is inside the building, with the entrance through the “Sueno” café. Luckily, a passerby helped us find the entrance and said the owner would arrive soon to open the door.

The only real problem was Wi-Fi: even though the access key is at the entrance, the signal didn’t reach my room. I had a comfortable triple room all to myself, with a private bathroom, comfy beds, and good cleaning. Breakfast was included and nice, and the service was good. The cocktails were good too, and well priced. Otherwise, everything was great.
