Camping Sass Dlacia

We stayed in an A-frame cabin, basically a wooden tent, and loved every detail. It was a dreamlike setting. The temperature dropped to -11 °C the night we arrived, so we were a little worried about staying warm, but the sleeping area was comfortably and evenly heated. There were thoughtful touches throughout, including extra side storage, charging points, reliable Wi-Fi, coat hangers and a plastic basket for wet shoes. Our cabin looked out towards the mountains, and at night the sky around the campsite was full of stars. The shared bathrooms were spotless, and we regularly saw staff cleaning them, which was reassuring. Reception lent us a hair dryer free of charge, and we rented a sledge for €10 per person, helmets included. We took it to the sledge slopes of Piz Sorega, which I'd highly recommend. The reception team were kind and helpful too. A unique, magnificent experience. If you want a little adventure, this is the place.

The pods have an unbeatable view, and there’s a restaurant, shop, and reception on site if you need anything. We were 10 English guests, and the staff were brilliant with us. Getting there from Venice airport took three hours, which was the one drawback for me, but it was worth the trip.

I found a quiet spot tucked into the back corner, which suited me much better than being parked among the crowds in the middle. You can choose your own pitch, and the views over the trees and mountains are lovely. It’s a busy campsite, but easy to book and check in, with welcoming staff, good facilities, and plenty to do. There are lots of hikes, climbs, and mountain biking nearby. I had a great stay and would come back.

The showers were a real treat after a day outdoors, and the rest of the amenities were excellent too. Camping Sass Dlacia has beautiful mountain views and an atmosphere I loved. There’s live music, a good restaurant, and a sauna, plus easy access to lovely hikes. It’s the best campsite I’ve stayed at, and I’d highly recommend it.
