I was covering a trail running race that finished right in front of this hotel, ETC by UTMB, and went into reception to ask if I could charge my laptop so I could send in my event photos. I waited five minutes and rang the bell, but there was nobody there. I then went outside and sat on their chairs. After about 15 minutes, a woman arrived and rudely shouted that it was private property and we couldn’t sit there. We explained we had tried to speak with someone and were happy to buy food or a drink to use the space, but she just shouted aggressively for us to leave. Courmayeur is a lovely place with lovely people. I can’t say the same about this place or its staff.

One of our favorite hotels on the TMB circuit. The room was comfortable, and the service was especially good. Georgia (sp?) at the front desk was warm and welcoming, offered suggestions, and made dinner reservations for us. John Pierre (sp?) in the restaurant was exceptional. His smile and joy reminded us of Roberto Benigni, and his work ethic was incredible to watch. It felt like his personal mission was to make us feel welcome. We couldn’t be happier with the stay and highly recommend it.

We had a lovely ski holiday here. The staff were lovely, the breakfast fantastic, and room 46 was good. I would have liked a kettle for making tea, though that might not be common in Italy.

There’s no hotel parking, since it’s right in the town center, but free parking is next door. Even on busy August days we had no trouble finding a space in the evening, though it was harder during the day. The room was small, with old furniture and no air conditioning, although it was cool at night and we didn’t need it. The bathroom window looked straight onto the safety staircase at window height, and the balcony was similar, so leaving the windows open wasn’t an option. Breakfast was generally good and had some fantastic items, like honeycomb, but other parts were lacking. The coffee wasn’t good, at least by Italian standards. Overall it felt more like a three-star hotel and was rather expensive for what it offered.

The breakfast was great, and Gianpiero the waiter provided great service. Still, I didn’t think the hotel deserved a four-star rating. At 120€ a night, the rooms were extremely small, and the staff were professional but less friendly than I’d expect in a premium location. The sauna was tiny, and the rules were only in Italian, which wasn’t helpful when 90% of the clients are British or French.
