The setting is quiet, with forest walks and hikes starting right by Hotel Maso Ganzaie. The access road ends there, which helped keep our stay peaceful. The family-run service felt personal and welcoming, and the recently renovated rooms were spotless and comfortable. We found the hotel's own restaurant hard to beat: each evening there's a home-cooked four-course set menu, with two choices for every course. We tried other places, but preferred the meals here. It doesn't have five-star touches like fine bone china or silver cutlery, but it gets the other things right. I rarely give five stars, saving them for the very best, and this place earned them from me.

Francesco, the facility manager, was especially welcoming, kind, and focused on guests. The prices were very competitive for the area, too. Our winter break at Maso Ganzaie was great. The hotel sits at the foot of a mountain, with the quiet woods on one side and Cavalese close by for pubs, restaurants, spas, and sports. The beautiful ski station of Pampeago is only 20 minutes away. For a 3-star place, the main services were fully satisfying: a good breakfast and simple, renovated, clean rooms with balconies and lovely mountain views.
