B&B La Stazione

Calling this a one-star place feels generous. We booked through Booking.com and paid everything in advance, but when we arrived they wouldn't let us stay. The explanation was, “I accept whoever I want in my house.” That may be their choice, but it left us without a room and cost us money. We did get the issue resolved by contacting Booking.com, though they should at least have refunded twice what we paid. The night before, we'd called to ask about a last-minute room and were told, “No, it's already a good thing we answered the phone.” Is that how you want to offer hospitality? The property looks awful from the outside, too. Terrible and unreliable. I don't recommend it. Diamante has plenty of lovely places run by professional staff.

The beach resort offering beach accommodation is beautiful, and the room itself was spacious and lovely, as was the bathroom. Still, this place won't work for light sleepers or anyone with mobility problems. We also couldn't use some of the amenities included in the deluxe package.

The location is ideal for walking around and seeing beautiful Diamante, and there's onsite parking with a personal remote control to access the facility. It feels much more like a five-star hotel than a B&B. The place is modern and spotless, with every detail carefully considered. The rooms have loads of comforts, including a voice assistant, smart TV, an in-room coffee machine, and a generous set of toiletries with body lotion, sewing and shaving kits, and a toothbrush. The towels and bathrobes are incredibly soft. Breakfast is plentiful, and Maria Francesca is so kind. There are lovely paintings and wooden sculptures throughout, made by the owner, Mr. Gabriele. We didn't get to meet him, but the sculptures are extraordinary. Highly recommended if you're visiting this beautiful part of Calabria.

Diamante is beautiful, with clear water and a town center full of lovely murals. Our booking included beach service at Tropical Lido, with parking, an umbrella, and lounge chairs, and the beach surpassed what we expected. The staff and owners were very kind and did their best to meet every request. At the B&B, the free minibar was restocked with drinks each day, and the room had Netflix, Alexa, air conditioning, and a coffee machine with espresso, ginseng, and barley capsules. Breakfast every morning included Italian staples and southern Italian specialties. Everything was exceptional, and the B&B is equipped with every comfort and lots of attention to detail. The one drawback is the stairs: it's on the third floor and there's no elevator, which can be inconvenient with heavy luggage.
