Poggio dei Gorleri Wine resort

We got a warm welcome and lots of ideas for outings and sightseeing in the Imperia region. They even booked a few things for us. Our colourful, clean flat had fantastic sea views and a lovely terrace, almost like a postcard. There was plenty of room for the four of us and our dog, and both the accommodation and staff were very dog-friendly. Definitely try their own wine, too, highly recommended. A couple of ideas for the owners: a few extra deck chairs and a barbecue would be great for the terrace. A full-length mirror for female guests might also be useful.

The way into the resort is a little steep, but the rooms and apartments are beautiful and the place is really high quality. We arrived a day early and they accommodated us without any problem. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the price certainly wasn't too high. You can have lunch or dinner here, too. Highly recommended.

We spent three nights at Poggio dei Goreri for a wedding at the resort. Our apartment was extremely clean, with a kitchenette and air conditioning. The pool is well maintained, and the staff were very polite and helpful. There’s an on-site restaurant, but its hours are limited and it can fill up, so I’d bring some snacks. We took a cab from the train station in Imperia to the resort, which cost 16 Euros.

The apartment was good, cleaned every day, and came with a nice view. Breakfast was good too, and the location is great. But this place is known for hosting weddings, birthdays, and other parties. We counted around ten in a week, and that was just the start. During the week it was quiet, as you'd expect at an agriturismo, but on some weekend days there were four parties. The pool beds are rented to anyone who pays, with lunch included. Eating and drinking by the pool isn't allowed unless you're swimming staff or a party guest. With all the events going on, the tables were wobbly and breakfast became a balancing act. The owners seemed so busy with parties that there wasn't time to tighten the screws. We like the quiet of an agriturismo, so this wasn't what we expected. Replies to email or messages were slow unless we gave them a deadline. We did ask whether more parties were planned, and were told no, but that didn't rule out anything happening spontaneously. Sure enough, two parties with about 20 people each popped up in one day. We understand that the past two years of Covid were hard on businesses, and parties may be one way to make up for it. We've also travelled in Italy over that period and supported many agriturismi. We're now at another one, where people greet you warmly and will even bring over something small you forgot, like a towel.
