At €134 a night, I expected a quiet room and basic comfort. The constant noise was the biggest problem: it sounded like a nearby pipe dripping and went on all night, whether or not anyone else was using water. It made sleeping really difficult. We do high-intensity sports, so getting proper rest matters to us, and the lost sleep had a real effect on our stay. I was also disappointed by how reception responded when we mentioned it in the morning. They didn't seem interested in hearing us out, and kept saying they usually get great reviews. If I ran a hotel and got an unusual negative comment, I think I'd want to look into it. The room looked more worn than the online photos. When we arrived, there was a strong artificial fragrance, as if fabric spray had been used heavily on the curtains and bed cover. It smelled chemical and gave us headaches. We were told to open the windows, which was hard in the very cold weather, though the smell eased somewhat after dinner. The sheets themselves were clean and had no odor. The shower was small but clean, with good hot water. The TV didn't work, which didn't bother us much but could matter to someone else. I stayed one night with my husband, and the room condition and noise left us with a disappointing experience.

The food was okay, but I have a serious concern about the two turtles near the entrance. They are kept in what looks like a tiny aquarium, with little water and almost no room to move or rest. That seems unsuitable for adult turtles and raises concerns about their welfare. I contacted the restaurant privately and politely in both Italian and English, hoping they'd consider making a change, but they never replied. Keeping animals in such cramped conditions as decoration feels unfair and inappropriate. If the owners want to make the place welcoming, animal welfare should matter too. I hope they think it over and significantly improve the turtles' living conditions :( I'm posting this follow-up because my earlier messages to the restaurant went unanswered.

The potato cream pizza is delicious, and this is a good pizzeria right in the heart of Dimaro. Edit: the pizza maker has changed, and the pizza isn't the same now. It's completely average.

The bathroom layout was almost comical, with a wooden beam crossing over the toilet. At 6ft 1”, I struggled to use it standing up. The bed wasn't comfortable either, and we had to haul our luggage up four flights of stairs. Cleaners tried to come in well before checkout. After a long journey, we felt unwelcome from the start. The host was inflexible and came across as hostile. For what it is, the place was very overpriced and the advertisement was misleading. Maybe she was having a bad day, but I wouldn't stay with Eliza again even if I were paid to.
