Romantik Hotel Santer

I wasn’t prepared for what a gem this place would be. The room was immaculately clean, breakfast was delicious and had everything you could want, and there were staff around all the time cleaning, prepping, and greeting guests. I’ve never experienced that before. I loved the sauna options, and the hours for them worked great. I wish I’d had more time here. Hopefully I’ll be back for nordic ski season!

After a day hiking in the mountains, relaxing at the spa was really nice. The facilities were immaculate, the staff attentive and friendly throughout, and dinner was exceptional. The set tasting menu was 40 euros per person, very reasonable for the food quality. The location was great, a short drive to Tre Cime, right next to Lake Dobbiaco, and a short walk into the local town. The hotel does cost more than other local options, but in our opinion the quality makes up for it. Excellent stay.

My brother stayed here a couple of years ago and suggested it to me. I can see why: it’s a beautiful place for a relaxing break, with three pools at different temperatures and wonderful mountain views from the outdoor ones. Breakfast was amazing, dinner excellent, and the staff were so friendly and welcoming. I really loved it.

We chose half board and were really glad we did. Dinner had Tyrolean, seafood, and vegetarian menus, and we could mix dishes between them. Breakfast was a generous buffet, with eggs made to order. Mr. Dennis and the staff made sure guests felt welcome and looked after. The spa was a highlight too: roomy relaxation areas, refreshments, two outdoor heated pools that felt lukewarm to us, and a warmer indoor pool. The saunas run on a schedule, so check when they’re open. There’s also a quiet outdoor lounging area, and robes and slippers are provided. We both had fantastic lymphatic drainage massages. Our modern, spotless, spacious room was in the newer building by the spa, with a balcony and lovely mountain views. There’s no air conditioning, which might matter to some, but leaving the balcony door open at night kept things cool for us. The hotel itself was spotless and beautiful, with parking on site. If I remember correctly, the covered garage costs €10 a day. We stayed four nights in September as part of a Dolomites trip. It was handy for Tre Cime, Misurina, Lago di Braies, and Cinque Torri, as well as Cortina and Dobbiaco. We’d definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the area.
