It’s a lovely spot even if cycling isn’t your thing, though you should give it a try. The house is peaceful on the Brenta canal, a welcome break from the madness of Venice. I stayed at the beginning and end of my bike tour to Slovenia and Croatia. The hosts arranged a rental bike and were happy to switch the pedals and seat. I can’t say enough about how kind and helpful they are. Such a wonderful place to stay.

We spent our last four nights in Italy at Dimora Naviglio, and felt like we were staying with friends from the moment Gianluca picked us up at the train station until we said goodbye at the airport. Dolo sits halfway between Venice and Padua. Our room had everything we could need, the beds were incredibly comfortable, and breakfast had plenty to choose from. Gianluca also runs Travel & Bike (travelandbike.it), and we could use the bikes throughout our stay. They were sturdy and well-equipped, and cycling along the canal turned out to be the best way to see the area, including Padua. For our day in Venice, Gianluca had bus tickets ready for us. They seemed to anticipate every need. Venice was overwhelming, and it was lovely to return to the peaceful Domora Naviglio, sit in the garden, and have a glass of wine, okay, two, with cheese, prosciutto, bread, and olives we’d picked up on the way back. If I could give them an 11, I would.

The hosts are so kind and genial, and the place by the river is delightful. It deserves every bit of its already high rating. A great place to stay whether you bring bikes or not!
