Lake Como Beach Hostel

A few friends and I were in Milan for design week and decided to spend the weekend at Lake Como. The man at reception asked about our plans and then spent the next few minutes working out the journey for us. The place is nice and the view is good. The food was mediocre, though not expensive. Service was bad: they brought me the wrong drink, and when I pointed out that it was the wrong beer, a woman later came to my table to tell me I was mistaken. That specific lady could have tasted the difference even at 80 with no taste buds.

I travelled solo and felt at home here. The people were incredibly friendly, helpful, and kind, and the service was efficient. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the place felt very safe, and the direct lake view was wonderfully relaxing. The food was good, though adding a breakfast buffet would make it even better. It’s affordable and accessible, and if you don’t have a car, there’s a bus stop not far away, making it easy to get around. I highly recommend this place for a stay at Lake Como.

We stopped for drinks, so I can’t comment on the hotel. The service was prompt, but our order came out wrong and one drink was missing until we asked. They were very busy, with lots of tables reserved, so we put it down to that. The drinks were reasonably priced, and there’s a great view of the lake. There were a lot of people sitting out in front of the bar by the water and nearby campsite, which made the whole area feel hectic and crowded. I imagine it would have a nicer atmosphere by the lake in a quieter season. Still, it’s worth a visit.
