We were able to get reservations at some great nearby restaurants that night thanks to the incredibly friendly and helpful staff at Residence Briona. The hotel itself is in a historic building with plenty of character and charm.

We only stayed briefly at Residence Briona, but had a great time. The historic home is perfectly placed in the old town, just a 5 minute walk from the train station, with a lovely courtyard and balcony. The room was large, and I loved the shower. The bed was so comfortable, with great sheets and just the right pillows. Our host was pleasant and relaxed, and left breakfast in the room: coffee, juice and assorted nibbles. I'd recommend it.

The courtyard at Residenza Briona is magnificent, and we were warmly welcomed and given advice on visiting the city. We had a wonderful time and strongly recommend it!

The owner's English isn't her strongest language, but we understood each other. When we needed to discuss something more complicated, her son stepped in with flawless English. Both of them were friendly and very helpful. The place is a charming, beautiful old mansion with a gorgeous courtyard, while the apartments themselves are modern and extremely well supplied: a full kitchenette, pastries, coffee, tea, juice, soap, shampoo and lots more. It was very comfortable and affordable. Domodossola is an underrated Italian gem, and this is where you want to stay while you're there.

Mary Poppins floating on the wall was a charming touch! We loved the beautiful modern, large showers and being able to choose from several great pillows. Résidence Briona is in the pedestrian heart of town, in an old palazzo first mentioned in 1209. The owner recently restored it with care and furnished and decorated it with love. She's delightful, and gave us and our dog the warmest welcome. If you value genuine charm over a bland hotel in an indifferent neighborhood, this place is for you.
