Hotel Nuraghe Arvu

The hotel itself was beautiful, with generous, thoughtfully designed shared spaces and traditional, comfortable rooms. A few things didn’t meet what I’d expect from a three or four star place. The front desk was nearly always empty and didn’t feel very service-minded, perhaps because they were short-staffed. They lend out snorkels, a cooler, and an umbrella, but swapping a pool or beach towel costs 3 euros, which seemed unusual. There was no iron, and the old-fashioned room hairdryer was barely useful. We also had no cups, tea or coffee, or local information in the room, and toiletries were minimal. Breakfast was basic, with limited variety and no hot vegetarian choices. If those details were improved, this could be a truly luxurious stay in Cala Gonone.

Debora and Diletta were especially helpful, coordinating with local businesses so our outings and meals went smoothly. Their knowledge of local food was spot on, and every meal they steered us toward was a treat. The staff overall were generous with their local knowledge, so make use of it. The views are breathtaking, and while the rooms are on the small side, they had what we needed. Breakfast was hearty and healthy. A real gem for the region, highly recommended for the staff and location, with decent rooms.

The pools were nice, and the staff were lovely, welcoming, and caring. We only had half board, and breakfast was good. The place is nicely situated and away from everything, though a very noisy youth campground next door disrupts the quiet for three months of summer, through September. The noise is outside the hotel, while indoors it stays calm.

We had a ground-floor quad room for two adults and two children. All the beds were in one area, but there was enough space, and the bathroom was modern and clean. There was plenty of parking, and the main town by the port was a 10-15 minute walk. The resort next door got loud in the evenings, but it didn’t bother us. The pool area had a relaxed holiday-village feel, with two-storey accommodation around it, and it stayed quiet with plenty of free sunbeds during our visit. Breakfast was a good buffet; we didn’t try dinner there.
