The rental houses are right beside the dog beach and have a lovely ocean view. The restaurant food is delicious and reasonably priced. It’s a great experience to give your four-legged friends. The weak 4G and Wi-Fi are the one downside, though a cheap cable and Wi-Fi router could fix that.

It’s a very nice area, but I didn’t find it especially dog-friendly. Most dogs were kept on leads, and seemed protective and aggressive about their territory. They kept their distance rather than playing with each other, while we owners were stressed about watching our dogs all the time. We’ve been to other Bau beaches, even bigger ones, where dogs weren’t required to be on leads and there were no problems. This felt more like a people’s beach where dogs are allowed than a beach made for dogs to enjoy themselves. I’d only recommend it if your dog is happy to stay beside you and doesn’t want to play or swim.

For €30 a day, up to three adults and a pet get a beach umbrella and beds for both people and dogs. There’s plenty of grass in front where dogs can roll around, plus a spot for exercise and access to swim in the sea. It’s a simple beach.
