The owner was nice and met us even though we arrived very late. It's a classic-looking building in a great part of Empoli, handy for trains and away from Florence's more touristy spots. The room was pleasant, a bit basic, but fine for a couple of nights. The mattress was uncomfortable and the shower was faulty, with water going everywhere. Sound carries a lot too. On our first night, a group of lads came in at 1 a.m. and chatted in the hallway. It was really disruptive and woke us up. I know that wasn't the owner's fault, but it was very loud.

It's a historic building with a large enclosed garage, close to downtown and good value for money. Recommended.

The service is practically nonexistent. I ended up here once for work because my office booked it. There were three of us, but the hot water heater was maybe 50 liters, which we hadn't realized. Only one person got a comfortable shower, and the other two had cold water. Our room was on the ground floor, with a window onto a fairly busy street. I told the office never to book it again, but there was a mix-up and they reserved it for me a few days ago. Again there were three of us, and this time the heater was 30 liters at most. Even though they'd booked the whole week, we went somewhere else the next morning.

The location is excellent, right in the center, and the private parking is a real plus. My ground-floor room, apart from a small utility room, wasn't at the same standard as the others despite costing the same. Street and garage noise came through clearly because of the connecting door, the shower stall was broken, and I had the same sheets and towels for my whole stay. Those things could be improved.
