Castello di Casiglio

The Ambra apartment and spa area are beautiful, and the castle’s modern architecture makes a strong impression. We had a wonderful stay and were pleased with everything the hotel offered. The staff welcomed us warmly everywhere, and the food and wine selection suited us perfectly.

Dorjan made our wine tasting unforgettable. He knows his wines, explains them in an engaging and enjoyable way, and clearly has a real passion for them. The whole session felt relaxed and personal. I’d highly recommend the tasting to visitors, especially if Dorjan is leading it.

The restaurant and food service were excellent, and I found the pool area comfortable and relaxing. Rooms were clean and well appointed, and the hotel itself was very nice. It would be useful to have a gym, since the hotel seems to have space for one. Getting around could also be easier: the staff were helpful in arranging transportation, but it was costly and inconvenient. I’d also like some kind of bar food that’s easy to order from the pool or hotel bar.

The spa was the strongest part of our stay, with a modern setup and lovely staff. We also enjoyed the restaurant food. I’d recommend coming for the spa, perhaps on a day pass. We paid over 300 euros for one night in September in a classic room at Villa Elena. The only window was a roof window, so there was very little natural light. Once turned on, the shower smelled strongly of mold, and the AC wasn’t working. I called four or five times and waited on the hotel phone, but couldn’t get through to reception. When we went there in person, reception turned the AC on and said their system had blocked it. We’d hoped to eat outside on a lovely late-summer night, but were told the outdoor area was closed. The same happened at breakfast the next morning, even though many people were already sitting outside. They didn’t set up the area until lunch.
