Hotel Souvenir

The owner speaks English, and he and his wife really go out of their way to make guests feel comfortable. You're always offered coffee with a smile. They also made me lunch and dinner that day, both delicious and reasonably priced. That's the real reason I loved this place. The room was fairly spacious, though the bathroom was small. Don't expect new, hotel-style furniture or modern bathroom facilities. The rooms are clean, with old but working furniture. The location is great, 300m up Vesuvius. Breakfast was delicious and freshly prepared, with a choice of Italian breakfast or something more substantial, including bread, eggs, meat, pastries, and coffee.

The location worked perfectly for us, and we felt safe leaving most of our luggage in the car. The parking is well inside the grounds, out of sight from passersby. We weren't uncomfortable without air conditioning, though we would have liked to have it. The makeshift plumbing in the shower gave us a few laughs, but we loved our stay. It's not really a five-star hotel, though compared with other places we've stayed in Italy, it felt like one. If I'm back in the area, I'd stay here again without a second thought.

A car is useful here since the buses run infrequently, and it's a little removed from city life. For us, that made it a nice place to relax away from the bustle. We stopped here on the way to Napoli and visited Mount Vesuvius while we were nearby. It's a lovely place for a two-star hotel in the province. The owners were so friendly and welcoming that we felt at home. I hope to come back to the area and stay at Souvenir again. Ciao, Pasquale! Thanks so much for everything!

The room itself was pretty decent, but some of the staff were horrible. One person knocked on my door late at night asking me for drinks and hinting that they wanted things to go further. I had also paid online in advance, but another staff member still demanded payment for the stay and charged me incorrectly. Do yourself a favour and don't stay here.
