La casa di Ercole B&B

The place is fairly clean and worked well for us in Ercolano. The railway station isn’t too far, and there’s a lovely view of Vesuvio. It’s basically an apartment with three rooms, one shared bathroom, and a kitchen. The main downside is the railway line behind the building: you can hear the trains from early morning until late evening. Otherwise, everything was fine.

Breakfast was generous, and the bed was comfortable. I stayed for five days, and Veronica made a great first impression, she was kind and ready to help. My room and private bathroom were clean, with sheets, towels, and soap provided. I’d happily stay here again if I’m back in the area.

Everything else was excellent: the owner was welcoming, the room and bathroom were clean and new, breakfast was plentiful, and the location was convenient. The photos also match what you find there. The one drawback was the Wi-Fi. When I asked, I was told there were network problems that evening, but other reviews make it seem like this wasn’t only my experience. In short, there isn’t Wi-Fi.

The train line runs right beside the property. The walls shake, and the noise is loud from 4 a.m. to 11 p.m., something that wasn’t mentioned when booking. The private bathroom also isn’t in the room, and you have to walk to the far end of the corridor to use it, which wasn’t disclosed either. The breakfast photos give a misleading impression. There was only a small tub of cereal, eaten from plastic cups, and industrial croissants I wouldn’t serve even in prison. Wi-Fi barely works in the rooms, and the price is as high as other B&Bs that are 10 times more expensive. After I first posted a negative review on Google Maps without details, the owner contacted me and insulted me. That gives you an idea of the kind of person he is before you book. Avoid at all costs!
