Residence Erice Beach - Casa Vacanza

The property isn’t especially appealing, and its name doesn’t seem to fit. The pool was dirty, and the setting looks more like a low-rise building. Its one advantage is being right by the beach.

Mosquitoes everywhere. We spent a week fighting them and couldn’t sleep. The place is quiet and in a beautiful spot right by the sea, with stunning views and sunsets, but the mornings start far too early. There are no shutters in the bedrooms, so we were awake at 6:00 AM. The air conditioning didn’t work, except for the first 3 days, and the person who rented us the apartment didn’t seem to care. We had to leave the windows open, which meant even more mosquitoes. There was no internet or Wi-Fi. We were told the modem had to be provided, so don’t mislead people when they book. We were also told the bus to Trapani ran until 2:00 AM, but the last one was at 8:45 PM. Without a car, you’re isolated. It’s a very windy area, with the beach and a small stretch of sea for surfing and kite surfing just 100 meters away. Prices are generally high, and most services, bars and establishments require cash. I strongly recommend not paying the full amount until the end of your stay, so you can avoid being ripped off. If I order a Maserati from a dealership, I don’t expect to leave with a Mercedes. If the Maserati isn’t available for technical reasons, I should be told and refunded the difference. This is about principle and respect.

The beach is a bit neglected, and the cleanliness is only just acceptable. There aren’t any toilets or showers. We’re talking about ERICE, not some little village 🫣🫣. There’s no doubt people are dirty.

If you’re expecting peaceful nights, be ready for the opposite. The Sun Beach club on the beach plays music until 3 a.m. I don’t know how that can happen in a town.
