I Pozzetti San Leonardo Agriturismo

The rooms are spacious and well equipped, and the setting among olive fields is calm. I had a great stay, though in May the swimming pool still wasn't open. 😔

The hotel needs a revamp, especially around the pool, where paint is peeling and the lounge chairs are broken. The rooms are old, and the air conditioning couldn't bring the temperature below about 24 degrees. The beds were very old and uncomfortable, with the springs easy to feel. This definitely doesn't feel like a four-star hotel.

If you want to explore the countryside and nearby sights, having a car is a good idea. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the building was charming and well kept. There's a lovely pool, though no service there. Patrizia and Sabrina were easy to approach and always ready to help. The kitchen made us salads and bruschetta at lunchtime when requested, using fresh local ingredients. Breakfast was a basic buffet. Agriturismo Pozzetti is a charming place in the heart of Apulia.

We arrived on 6/18/2022, when the weather was quite warm. The Masseria was architecturally interesting, but getting around without a car was a problem. A local driver recommended Piero, who had a nasty disposition and charged prices that bordered on robbery. Taxis don't really exist in the area, so being carless made things difficult. Our room/suite was reasonably priced but had IKEA furnishings and a mattress that felt like a pull-out couch. The sheets were stiff and abrasive. The main problem was the air conditioning: there were two units and neither was adequate. When we complained, we were told they were “working perfectly,” which was a joke. We were offered a fan and told no other rooms were available, even though the place looked empty. Our friends at a sister property had air conditioning that worked perfectly. The curtains wouldn't fully close or open, and the shower felt like it was from the 1940s. I'd stay closer to the water and bring a car if visiting the area.
