You can see the castle from the window, and the location is really picturesque. The rooms themselves are lovely, and the front desk handles problems quickly. But the layout can be awkward, since getting to the bathroom often means climbing spiral stairs. In the room nearest the pizzeria, there weren’t many places to put things in the bathroom, so you often end up setting your toothbrush on the toilet. Also, sunrise light comes straight through the window and makes it nearly impossible to sleep.

My wife and I stayed for four days and were warmly welcomed. The rooms were comfortable and clean, and the staff were both courteous and knowledgeable. I Princìpi is also a way into Puglia’s past, present, and future. Its setting is striking, only a few dozen meters from the Norman-Swabian castle, among routes that once linked the inland area with the sea and connected West and East. You can feel the pull of old stories here. The B&B brings the present into conversation with the past and future, inviting you to look for traces of earlier times and make new paths while staying rooted in where you come from and adding something from the times we live in. Our room was nice, but it really only works for a short stay since there was just one clothes rail and no wardrobe. We spent eight nights with a torn bedsheet that was never replaced, and the toilet seat hinge was broken. On day three there was no toilet paper, so we had to buy some because nobody was there. At check-in, reception was empty and we waited an hour. Very disappointed!

Our room had two levels, with a sleeping area and bathroom, plus a small living room and terrace. The rooms are very nice, and the owner was kind and helpful. It’s in the historic center and looks out over the castle.
