Borgo San Marco

The grounds are spectacular, and the staff were wonderful. A kind red-haired waitress looked after us so attentively and made the meal special with her great suggestions. The food was fresh, local, and Italian in Ostuni style, served on elegant plates. I loved the Bombetta most, definitely order it. Such a special experience, highly recommend eating here!

For five nights, the air conditioning in our room was basically useless, blowing warm air around 80 degrees and leaving us sweating day and night. With the price we paid, we expected working AC, attentive service, and basic care. Instead, service was nearly nonexistent. We could walk around all day without seeing a staff member, and were left to find and pay for things ourselves. Even simple requests were a hassle. The QR code for ordering food or drinks rarely worked, towels had to be fetched and returned by us, and we were expected to go to a store for drinking water. When we raised problems, staff reacted defensively and unprofessionally, including at breakfast. Our one dinner at the hotel was also disappointing and below par. Borgo San Marco may look appealing, but our stay was deeply disappointing. We regret choosing it and strongly recommend staying somewhere else, as there are plenty of beautiful places in the area.

Borgo San Marco made our wedding in May 2023 even better than we'd imagined. We had fewer than 40 guests, all staying for two nights, and everyone from Rome, Paris, and the U.S. complimented our choice of venue. The chapel ceremony was a last-minute change because rain was possible. I'm so glad we moved it there, even though it didn't end up raining. It was spectacular. The food was fantastic, from breakfast to the welcome party and wedding dinner. Every room is unique, with beautiful furniture and art. I'm very sensitive to interior design and wanted a place that wasn't too rustic or too modern, and Borgo San Marco felt like the perfect blend. The design is charming and authentic, and the whole team was wonderful. Special thanks to Carmen and Lucrezia at reception, as well as the kitchen, restaurant, and bar staff. We stayed an extra night to enjoy the pool with friends and are already looking forward to returning. This place will always mean a lot to us.

The rooms were spacious and clean, and the staff were genuinely helpful. Breakfast and lunch snacks could have had more variety for the price, though. Getting a pool snack on a plastic plate with a plastic fork was a bit of a mood killer for me. I'd stay again if the price were no more than 200€.
