Casa Sultana

This was our second holiday at Casa Sultana, and once again it was wonderful. The house is comfortable and very elegant, with lots of attention to detail. We hope to be back on this beautiful island soon.

The room was well located for anyone who wants to be within a short walk of the center and port, and check-out was at 10 am. There was a lovely view from the terrace, with enough space to relax for a few hours, plus loungers, a shower, and tables. But the stay had a lot of frustrating moments. When we arrived, I called the number listed on Booking.com. The owner answered angrily, saying I'd dialed the wrong number and asking where I found it. I explained and apologized, and she gave me Mrs. Antonietta's number. Mrs. Antonietta let us leave our bags, but said the room wouldn't be ready until 3 PM, as we'd been told the day before. When we came back at 3, we climbed steep spiral stairs and were shown a small, dark room. We pointed out that our booked and paid-for room was supposed to have a view, and she then took us to the right one. Once inside, she asked for a €50 deposit and left. We asked where the terrace was before she went, and she showed us. When we returned from the terrace, she was already gone. We saw a notice above the air conditioning control with a calculation of the kW used if it was turned on, even though Booking.com says air conditioning is included. The lady told us over the phone to ignore that notice. Another paper had various warnings, including not eating on the terrace. We called her back about that too, and she again said to ignore it. The kitchenette was basic, with two burners, a mini fridge, and old utensils. The bathroom was clean and had a small hairdryer, but the towels weren't changed during our five days. A note mentioned separate waste collection without saying where to leave it. We texted the lady, who told us to put it in the appropriate bins by a bench downstairs.

The room was comfortable and tastefully furnished, and we were welcomed warmly. We especially loved the wonderful terrace overlooking the sea.
